Information for Weddings

Selecting your Ceremony

A civil ceremony allows you complete freedom of choice. You decide on the date, time, place, words, music and how you want the ceremony to be conducted.

You can choose your wedding style to be formal, informal or creative. During our meeting, you may wish to select from a variety of my sample ceremonies and readings, or you can compose your own Ceremony. Please feel free to bring any special poems or readings that you may wish to include.

Planning the Wedding

If you plan an outdoor wedding, you may need to consider an alternative venue in case of inclement weather.

If you decide to use a council park or beach as your venue, a booking should be made with the Council Parks and Gardens Department. You will be required to state the date, time, number of guests and name of the Celebrant. A fee may be charged to reserve a particular area of the park. Be aware that confetti is not permitted, but rose petals may be thrown.

Creating your ceremonial space and atmosphere can help set the scene. It may require a helping hand from friends/family or you may decide to engage a wedding decorator. Bamboo flares/Bali flags, a path of petals, setting up of chairs, and signing table can help define the space and create a focal point.

If you are planning an outdoor wedding with a large number of guests, you may need to consider the use of a Public Address System. I have a quality P.A. system which can also be used to play music via Ipod (mp3 player) cd player or computer. If there is no access to power, a fee of $25 is payable towards the cost of using the system with an ultra quiet generator.

Guests should be invited to arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes before the Ceremony begins.

Schedule plenty of time for your hair-dressing appointment, makeup and photographs before leaving home. Allowing extra time for the journey to the venue ensures a pleasant, relaxing ride, time to cope with unexpected traffic hold-ups or car trouble, and a stress-free, on-time arrival for the Bridal Procession.

The Wedding Day

After many months of planning, the big day is finally here! It is important that due to the excitement of the day, your good planning is not let down by poor time management for the most formal part of the occasion.

Keeping in mind that your driver and Celebrant may have a later engagement, and your guests, especially older people and children, would grow weary waiting, I would like to suggest a timetable for you to follow:

BTB = Before time booked with Celebrant
30 mins BTB Groom arrives at venue
  Guests arrive
20 mins BTB Celebrant arrives
 5 mins BTB Bride arrives
Photos - getting out of car
Time booked Bridal Procession!

I would be delighted to be chosen as your Wedding Celebrant. I take pride in offering a professional service, delivering Ceremonies with joyful enthusiasm, and working with you towards a happy and memorable Wedding Day.
